All-in-white escape to Venice… in La Fondation Valmont’s palazzo
Resolutely free in his choices, state of mind and definition of universal beauty, Didier Guillon (President of the Valmont Group and Fondation Valmont) breathes unbridled creativity to the Fondation’s activities since 2015. As such he led the acquisition of a Palazzo in Venice, to present the dialogs, installations and other creations the foundation sponsors throughout the year. Inaugurated with the exhibition Hansel & Gretel White Traces in Search of Your Self, Palazzo Bonvicini comes to life and becomes a significant actor of the local artistic scene.
« An immersion in childhood »
As in the eponymous tale, the exhibition starts with the vestige of the past of its three co-artists… and unveils their vision of the future, around works featured in a sole color: white.
Heir to an artistic family tradition, Didier Guillon the multi-talented esthete redesigns the outlines of a forest, animated with strange whispers. Loyal to his bond to Fondation Valmont and digging in his many artistic abilities, Isao continues the tale with some sugar pastries symbolic of elapsed time… hence initiating new material works. Acknowledged internationally for his masterful use of nature, the Barcelonan artist hereby deepens his research on the object and its simplified expression. Finally, Silvano Rubino intrigues with pieces which play with lights and shadows, faithful to his character and his taste for overwhelmed mystery in each creation. Passionate with glass since 2001, he first signed “useful objects” which are not usable, before gaining in breadth and combining blown materials, industrial glass and other marbles… exhibited around the world.
« A contemporary metaphor in a bygone scenery »
Hansel & Gretel – White Traces in Search of Your Self invites to a symbolic escape around the splendour of the Palazzo Bonvicini. A palace of unmitigated Italian style, whose contrasted elegance resonates along its renaissance facade opposed to its XVIII décor. A case of love at first sight for Didier Guillon, who unveils his magic charms with this first exhibition staged by two renowned curators, contemporary art lovers, founders of the Venice Design Festival (DESIGN.VE): Francesca Giubilei and Luca Berta.
A collection of talents in a Collector’s Palazzo.
A first page for the Palazzo Bonvicini, the new chapter of a thick success story for Fondation Valmont.
